A Very Merry Christmas

This year, Taylor and I went down to San Antonio to spend Christmas with my family. The days leading up to Christmas are always so crazy. I must remind myself not leave the house next year. The night before Christmas Eve, people were throwing punches in the line at Walgreens and then some guy rear ended our car twice! Luckily my car is fine but it was a jungle out there. After all the chaos, Christmas Eve and Christmas day were a welcoming relief.

Over the weekend, we went downtown to see all the lights on the river walk and had dinner at the Menger Hotel.

On Christmas Eve we drove up to the family farm, just outside of Austin, to visit my uncle. There are lots of donkeys on the farm and about 6 months ago, a wild boar decided to join the pack. Meet Wilbur.

Feeding time on the farm.

I think it is sweet that each momma donkey shares a food dish with her child.

I learned that my husband is a pretty good shot.

We stopped by my grammie's grave. I miss her lots, especially at Christmas.

It's dinner time and yes, we are still in our PJs.

Hope you had a very Merry Christmas!

'Tis the Season

I have been busy enjoying my break from school, filling the days with all my favorite things. It is absolutely wonderful to be out of school. More great news, I am officially half way done with PA school!! I only have 10 weeks left in the classroom and then I will be in clinical rotations for a year.

With Christmas quickly approaching, this is always the craziest and most stressful time of year, but I still love the season. We discovered the coolest Christmas light park not far from our apartment called Prairie Lights. I would definitely recommend it for those in the DFW.

Bundled up and ready to go!

My guys.

I came down to San Antonio to spend time with the fam.

Max's Christmas Recital

Facetime with Moby. I'm cray cray.

I also wanted to share the greatest Christmas poem ever that my sister wrote. It is truly magical and she won a contest at a bookstore. Just dial 855-HPB-FONE (855-472-3663) and press 2 for a reading of the poem.

Head Over Heels

Part two of our Thanksgiving in New Orleans. I am so in love with this city, just positively smitten.

So many layers of time.

The bayou classic comes to the Superdome every Thanksgiving weekend bringing some 200,000 people with it. Bourbon street was packed.

 NOPD

Marie Laveau's Vodoo Shop

Saturday we took a culinary bike tour. Had the BEST fried chicken, gumbo, oysters and poor boys. For dessert we had gelato and cannolis and even the New Yorkers that were with us agreed it was the greatest.

We went to Emeril's restaurant NOLA.

Shrimp and Grits

We also went to two John Besh restaurants, one of where we had this bread pudding. Needless to say, holiday weight gain has commenced.

So much art...

 and music.

Soul Rebels Brass Band at the Blue Nile

Pat O'Briens Piano Bar

Irvin Mayfield's Jazz Playhouse

I always love visiting my family's history. My great great grandfather opened a cigar shop in this store on canal street.
